Morocco's victory over Spain in the round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup left all Moroccans overjoyed.

Among them, comedian Gad Elmaleh who confided in the columns of "Parisien" to have had "tears in his eyes" after the match.

The star has made his choice: if Morocco meets France in the semi-finals, he will support the Atlas Lions, not the Blues...

His heart swung between two teams.

And yet, for the 2022 World Cup, Gad Elmaleh had to make a choice between Morocco, his country of origin, and France, where he had his first successes.

In an interview with our colleagues from

Paris

on Wednesday, December 7, the comedian, who has dual Moroccan and Canadian nationality, confided his joy after the victory of the Atlas Lions in the round of 16 against Spain.

"When Morocco plays, it's the roots that speak"

The comedian explains that he had "tears in his eyes" and said he was "overwhelmed" by "the elegance, the joy, the humanity" of the Atlas Lions.

Like all Moroccans, the star hopes to see his team reach the World Cup final.

"The great things in life happened because they were crazy, not because they were accessible," he says.

If the Moroccan team finds itself in the semi-final against France, Gad Elmaleh knows who he will support: "One will make me happy, the other can make me cry. When Morocco plays, it's the roots that speak, the pride of seeing compatriots hoisting the flag of the country".

“A lot of people will find themselves faced with a dilemma”

The choice was difficult for Gad, who continues: I'm not going to tell you salads.

I will go to the end of the story.

But I think there are a lot of people who will find themselves in a dilemma if it really happens“, he admits in the columns of

Parisian.
