A river has nourished the ancient civilization and witnessed the long-standing friendship between China and Laos.

A section of railway connects high mountains and big rivers. There is love that breaks through national boundaries and beauty across mountains and rivers.

December 3, 2022 is the first anniversary of the opening of the China-Laos Railway.

From December 1st, China News Network and China News Service Yunnan Branch jointly launched a series of short films "Beyond Mountains and Rivers" co-produced by China and Laos. The series consists of 10 episodes (5 episodes in China and 5 episodes in Laos). "Home", "Road", "Weaving", "Root", "Taste", "Dream", "Music", "Like", "Aid" and "Love" have 10 chapters, telling about a Laotian female mechanic, a Laotian daughter-in-law in Yunnan, and medical staff on the China-Laos border , Lao Chinese and other groups, showing the changes and longings that the China-Laos Railway, a road of friendship and happiness, has brought to the lives of the two peoples.

Today, we release the eighth short film "Like".

The film tells the story of Lao photographer Simmy and his camera.

As the "second generation of photographers", Simmy inherited his father's love and emotion for images, and gained a new understanding and perception in his creation.

He hopes to record more life images, especially the cultural customs from China, his ancestral homeland, to preserve nostalgia and memories for the next generation.
