• "Les Pires" recounts the difficult filming of a director who came to direct underprivileged children in a housing estate near Boulogne-sur-Mer.

  • Mallory Wanecque is a pure revelation of this film in which she plays an actress who is making her screen debut.

  • The young actress has been placed on the list of 2022 revelations by the Académie des César.

She has everything of a (future) great.

Mallory Wanecque stands out as obvious in

by Lise Akoka and Romane Gueret, an award-winning film at Cannes in the Un Certain regard section and winner of the grand prize at Angoulême.

Facing her, the Flemish actor Johan Heldenbergh plays a director who has come to shoot a film in a city near Boulogne-sur-mer (Pas-de-Calais) and who has to deal with the disadvantaged children he directs.

And he is full of praise for the young debutante.

“Between the first and the second rehearsal, I witnessed the birth of an actress, he explains to

.

Mallory approached the game in such a natural way that I am convinced that she is destined for a great career.

For an actor who has the bottle like me, it's magic.

The teenager, originally from Valenciennes (North) and aged 15 at the time of filming, is indeed dazzling with freshness and accuracy in the skin of Lily, a girl who tries her hand at the cinema in a sometimes tumultuous context.

A dizzying abyss

“Playing my first film while being in the same situation as my character was dizzying, recognizes Mallory Wanecque.

I never imagined myself becoming an actress: it was a job too far removed from my reality as a schoolgirl.

“It was at the exit of her establishment that the teenager was spotted and then chosen to play Lily after having first been refused for another role.

"She gives off an intense light and has a very sure instinct while not being afraid of work", insists co-director Lise Akoka.

The hardest scene to shoot was the one where his character had to exchange a kiss with his partner in front of the director's eyes.

"The shooting was just fun, it was a bit awkward but the team made me feel comfortable," she recalls.

It was all the easier because, contrary to what one might imagine, there was no improvisation.

Everything was written down to the comma.

The profession in the skin

As with young people in fiction, returning to college after this experience was not easy for Mallory Vanecque.

“But what happened in Cannes was so wonderful that it confirmed my desire to continue in this profession,” she insists.

The Académie des César was not mistaken: the young actress is on the list of revelations for the year 2022 and we would not have been surprised if she won the statuette.
