Soaring energy prices are hurting all businesses, especially small businesses.

The crisis is also claiming its first victims.

In Groix in Morbihan, one of the only two bakeries on the island, is thus forced to lower the curtain, reports

France Bleu Breizh Izel

.

Opened in 2017, La Petite Boulangerie will close its doors on December 31 and its three employees will be made redundant.

The managers of the business justify this brutal decision by multiplying by five their electricity bill from January 1st.

“The State will pay us from January 450 euros out of a sum of 6,000 euros so it is useless”, cowardly the baker.

On the island, the announcement of the closure of the bakery was of course greeted with sadness.

The mayor has also alerted the sub-prefecture of Morbihan to express his concerns and the need to have two bakeries on the island.

“We fear that this is the start of a long series,” said Thierry Bihan, deputy mayor, interviewed by

Ouest-France
