The second part of "Avatar" comes out Wednesday, December 14 at the cinema.

For the purposes of the film, once again directed by James Cameron, actress Kate Winslet had to hold her breath for… more than seven minutes!

The star has also beaten the previous record held by Tom Cruise, achieved on the set of "Mission Impossible 5".

Kate Winslet has exceeded her limits for the needs of the film

Avatar 2, 

in theaters on Wednesday December 14.

The 47-year-old actress, who agreed to join the cast of

Avatar,

thirteen after the release of the first film, achieved a feat during filming: she managed to hold her breath underwater for 7 minutes and 14 seconds.

Kate Winslet learned to dive for her role in

She was in a tank 37 meters high containing almost a million liters of water.

So how did the

Titanic

star manage to achieve this feat?

During an interview with the American media 

The Hollywood Reporter 

in 2018, Kate Winslet explained that she had to learn to dive to play her role in 

Avatar 2.

 "It was simply incredible. My longest apnea was seven minutes and 14 seconds,” she enthused.

"I loved the first movie"

Kate Winslet then simply indicated that she would play "a water person" in

Avatar.

The actress recently caused a stir at the film's premiere in London alongside fellow cast members Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, and Sam Worthington.

Kate Winslet gushed about joining the cast during an

 Empire

interview on December 2. 

"The deep themes addressed by the film about threats to the planet mean a lot to me. And on top of that, I joined a machine that was already well underway. It was fun!", she declared.

Avatar fans only have a few more days to wait before plunging back into the fantastic world of James Cameron...
