“Hunters, the first ecologists in France?

“: this vast communication campaign launched in 2018 by the National Federation of Hunters (FNC) was challenged by the Paris Court of Appeal in a judgment of December 2, finding that three of its posters are “counterfeit”.

The Court considers that the FNC "has committed acts of infringement of the copyrights of the League for the Protection of Birds by reproducing the characteristics of the graphic charter of the latter and of the three posters "#natureAlertcanard", "#natureAlert -otter” and “Refuge LPO””.

⚖️ The hunters wanted to make believe that they are the first ecologists in France.

Justice has just condemned them for having plagiarized the LPO!

It now prohibits hunters from using or reproducing the three posters concerned and the graphic charter of the LPO “in any form whatsoever and in any capacity whatsoever” and orders their removal from their website.

The FNC is also ordered to pay 10,000 euros to the LPO for legal costs.

A “tartufferie” for Allain Bougrain-Dubourg

"Lead pollution, destruction of species in a poor state of conservation, fights against the creation of protected areas, release of farmed game, destruction of small predators allied with agriculture... After such a record, hunters would like to make believe that they are the first ecologists of France, what is more by plagiarizing the LPO.

Justice has just turned the page on this tartufferie”, welcomed the president of the LPO Allain Bougrain-Dubourg in a press release.

This campaign, intended to restore the damaged image of hunters and whose slogan had been lambasted by several associations for the defense of the environment, had already been the subject of several retorts.

A question mark to add to the posters

The Professional Advertising Regulatory Authority (ARPP) had estimated in 2018 that the assertion "first ecologists in France" concerning hunters was not based on "objective and verifiable supporting elements", asking the RATP to add a question mark on the posters plastered in the Paris metro.

The FNC was then sentenced in February 2021 by the Paris court for "parasitism to the detriment of the LPO France association".

A decision that the hunters had appealed.
