Former lawyer Michael Avenatti's stay in a California prison has been extended.

The 51-year-old, known as the attorney for Donald Trump's alleged lover Stormy Daniels, was sentenced to an additional 14 years in prison by a federal court in Santa Ana near Los Angeles on Monday.

Avenatti had cheated clients and evaded taxes for years.

As it came out during the trial of the former lawyer, he had, among other things, withheld several million dollars from a paraplegic, mentally ill man, which he had fought for on his behalf.

Avenatti is said to have maintained a private plane, racing cars and villas with his clients' money.

The Californian, who also ran a coffee shop, pleaded guilty in June.

Also last summer, Avenatti was sentenced to four years in prison for cheating his most famous client, porn actress and alleged former Trump girlfriend Daniels, out of a book deal.

At his second conviction, the former lawyer was already behind bars.

In the summer of 2021, a New York court sentenced Avenatti to two and a half years in prison for trying to blackmail the sporting goods manufacturer Nike.
