The real estate agency in charge of the sale of the house in which The Goonies
was filmed
announced that a compromise had been signed.
The emblematic Victorian-style residence built in 1896 is located in Astoria, in the State of Oregon (United States).
It was acquired for 1.65 million dollars, or approximately 1.57 million euros.
The sale is expected to be finalized by mid-January 2023, local weekly The Oregonian reports.
An early fan
The buyer wishes to remain anonymous until this date.
The real estate agency, however, clarified that it was a leader of several companies.
The future owner of the premises said he saw the film when it was released in theaters in 1985 in the United States.
He was then accompanied by his mother, his brother, his sister and one of his friends.
He has since considered himself one of the
Goonies
.
For him, he said, this means that no matter what, friends should help each other.
That is why he promised not to carry out any transformation work and to preserve this cult house.
An offer has also been made to buy the house opposite, built in 1885. If accepted, a childhood friend of the entrepreneur is expected to move in.
A house that attracts
The
Goonies
house measures 217 m² spread over two levels.
It had been owned by Sandi Preston since 2001. Many
Goonies
fans visit it regularly.
At first, the occupier let them in.
But the behavior of some visitors, who defaced the wallpaper to take away pieces, put her off.
She now only accepts visits specially organized for the anniversary of the feature film.
