The birthday of the oldest surviving "Berry"... video

The island of Saint Helena, located in the South Atlantic Ocean, celebrates the birthday of the oldest land animal in the world, a giant tortoise named Jonathan, who is 190 years old, according to CNN.

The newspaper added that the home of the governor of St. Helena Island will open its doors for three days to visitors wishing to celebrate the "historic landmark."

CNN said Jonathan was brought to the Seychelles in 1882 as a gift to Sir William Gray Wilson - who later became governor, so she is believed to be 200 years old, according to St Helena's chief of tourism Matt Joshua.

On the occasion of Jonathan's birthday, the island authorities issued a "series of commemorative stamps".

It is noteworthy that "Jonathan" has been awarded the title of Guinness World Records as the oldest living wild animal in the world.

He now lives alongside three other giant tortoises - David, Emma and Fred.

According to Jonathan's veterinarian, the giant tortoise has lost its sense of sight and smell, but its sense of hearing works very efficiently as it responds well to the veterinarian's voice.
