The three police custody of the middle of last week barely ended, eight new people were arrested Monday morning in Corsican nationalist circles.

The investigation carried out by the National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor's Office relates in particular to a clandestine press conference in 2021 where the FLNC announced the reactivation of an armed group, we learned from judicial sources close to the case.

A man brought before the anti-terrorism prosecution

According to a judicial source, Charles Pieri, alleged ex-leader of the FLNC, is among those arrested.

Sulidarita, the association for the defense of so-called "political" prisoners, indicated that the son and grandson of Charles Pieri were also among those arrested.

Thursday, three men, including Corsica Libera activist Pierre Paoli, also suspected of having been at the head of the FLNC, had already been arrested in Corsica as part of this investigation.

Two of them, including Pierre Paoli, were released on Sunday after three days in police custody.

The third, who was under a warrant, should be presented in the coming days to an investigating judge of the anti-terrorism center of the Paris court for a possible indictment.
