The Egyptian Prosecution issued a statement regarding the developments of the Menna Shalaby case

Today, the Public Prosecution Office in Egypt issued a statement regarding the developments in the case of actress Menna Shalaby, who was caught, a few days ago, at Cairo International Airport, carrying substances suspected of being drugs.

In its statement, the Public Prosecution denied the validity of the news circulating on news websites, referring Shalabi to the Criminal Court, following the case.

The Public Prosecution confirmed that the case is still under investigation.

The Public Prosecution called on all press and media institutions to abide by the statements issued by the Statement Department in the Office of the Public Prosecutor regarding the cases that the Public Prosecution is investigating, "as it is the only official source for all information related to the work of the Public Prosecution."

And the Egyptian Public Prosecution announced, on Friday, that it had ordered the release of the actress, Menna Shalaby, after her interrogation, after she was caught at Cairo International Airport carrying substances suspected of being drugs.

The prosecution stated that the eviction order includes the actress paying a financial guarantee of fifty thousand pounds (about $1,955).

The authorities at Cairo International Airport had seized the actress while she was returning from abroad while she was completing customs procedures, and she was in possession of bags showing the presence of suspected drugs after examining them with an X-ray and inspection.
