Two hundred people have died since the start of the riots and demonstrations provoked in Iran by the death in detention of Mahsa Amini, a young Iranian Kurd arrested for wearing a veil deemed illegal, announced on Saturday December 3, the council of the Iranian state security, quoted by the Mizan news agency.

This figure is significantly lower than the estimates of human rights organizations and even the 300 deaths recently mentioned by a commander of the Revolutionary Guards, the elite unit of the Iranian army.

"Two hundred people lost their lives during the recent riots," Iran's judiciary agency Mizan reported, citing the Interior Ministry's State Security Council.
