Within the framework of the cultural program presented by the emirate during its participation as the guest of honor of the Guadalajara International Book Fair in its 36th session, the Sharjah Book Authority organized four school visits to a number of schools in the city of Guadalajara (Wadi Al-Hajar) and other Mexican cities.

Over the course of four days, four Emirati and Arab writers participated in the visits, who presented a series of seminars, workshops, and reading and discussion sessions that dealt with the achievements of the UAE, introduced Mexican students to Emirati and Arab culture, and reviewed the role of Sharjah and its cultural project based on cultural exchange and dialogue, and the consolidation of Fruitful and constructive links and relationships with all cultures of the world.

The first school visits began with the writer and painter Alia Al Shamsi, who participated in many art and international exhibitions for the book, and currently holds the position of Director of Cultural Programming at the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum, as she presented features of her experience in writing and drawing, and reviewed the path she went on, and introduced the audience to the first experience She is among the silent books in which she presented her book “Night and Day”, and it was ranked among the first silent books issued in the Emirates.

While the writer, poet and critic Ali Al-Abdan presented, during his visit to a school, a vivid picture of the reality of the arts in the Emirates, and the interest in music, heritage and painting, stopping at the critical movement of the arts, and what constitutes an addition to the development of the arts and experiences of creators in the Emirates.

The visits continued with writer Saleha Obaid, founder of the “Intellectuals Association” project, as she talked about the opportunities that young writers in the Emirates have to present their creative and knowledgeable products to local, Arab and international audiences, referring to the experience of her presence as part of the Sharjah delegation participating in the exhibition, and its impact on her communication and knowledge of Creators from different countries of the world.

The school visits program concluded with the novelist and translator Mohsen Al-Ramli, who obtained a Ph. His novel will be nominated for the Booker Prize for Arabic Fiction in 2021.
