• The Other Chronicle Three years of war between Alejandro and Rosa

Rosa Lagarrigue (67), responsible for the careers of Miguel Bosé, Mecano, Alejandro Sanz and Raphael, was honored this month at the Latin Grammys, for "her work as a leading woman in the music industry."

"I have been in the profession for four decades and 38 since I founded my company RLM...

This recognition is a pleasure

," Lagarrigue told EL MUNDO during the ceremony.

"I think I have always enjoyed this job," continues Lagarrigue.

«With artists you always learn.

But there are things that they have taught me, specifically.

To be more patient, to be more open and to have even more psychology.

Because they

need enormous support

, because they are very exposed and very fragile.

When I was young I was more impulsive;

now I am much more prudent».

...

More prudent in a world in which reputation, fame and exposure have become a minefield

: «I believe that the world evolves and we have to go with the world.

Although there are always things that you like more and others that you like less.

I am not the queen of social networks, but my office is.

I work with a lot of young people, especially women, so it's not up to me to fight against that universe.

But I do try to use those tools.”

How many people work at RLM?

Today there are 20 of us in the office, plus a lot of freelance people... And 38 years ago it was just me, alone in my house, packing posters.

The truth is, success came very gradually, because I went through many stages.

First I was with Miguel Bosé and then Mecano came to see me.

And I think that's where I really started to say 'I need an office.'

The fax did not even exist at that time!

The other obvious change in this period has to do with the condition of the professional woman. Women are breaking ground as musicians, as producers, and as performers.

There is no longer so much taboo.

I remember that when I started with Malú it was almost impossible to appear on a newscast.

They paid no attention to you with women.

But now everything is changing.

There is still a long way to go.

But I think it can be done. Have you ever felt that you were treated differently in the profession because you are a woman? Of course.

They said about me "they are not going to pay for this one."

So, the first tour I did, three months in America, went so well that I stopped being that "one who wasn't going to get paid."

I think macho comments have always slipped me.

I have focused on mine. She believes that, in 2022, there are girls who look at her with admiration and say "look, if Lagarrigue could, me too"

?Before, I was not aware that this could happen.

But now so many women and so many young people tell me that... Look, if what I've done has done a little bit to help others move forward, I'm grateful.

It's very gratifying. To finish, I want you to give me your opinion as an expert: where is Spanish music headed at the moment? I think that Spanish music is very creative and that's great.

But now we are mixing creativity with work and that is better.

There are many examples.

Like Rosalía, who has innovated in music.

And thanks to people like her, Spanish music is now opening doors in other branches, like urban music, which is working.

Good things are coming out of Spain!

Even so, we must not forget about the pop and flamenco wave that continues to grow. And neither about the legends.

Don't you find it curious that platforms like TikTok have brought great people, like Raphael, closer to the new generations and that they are now gaining value? Yes... Because, by tradition, Spain is a bit ungrateful to its artists.

America has always valued them... But Spain has not.

And that's why I'm glad that Raphael is appreciated, who continues to give spectacular concerts.

The record that he has now is incredible.

It's just... How can you make a record like that!

It is wonderful.

How can you make a record like that!

It is wonderful.

How can you make a record like that!

It is wonderful.
