Before the World Cup tournament in Qatar, Fifa has let the respective national teams choose one or two songs to be played when the teams score goals.

The songs have had to be approved by Fifa, but according to the sports channel ESPN, Fifa has not had to put an end to some of the teams' wishes.

For example, Australia has chosen "Down under" with Men at work, South Korea BTS with "Idol" and Germany "When we stand together" with Nickelback.

"Eliminates the supportership"

On his blog, football journalist Olof Lundh criticizes what he calls the "hockeyification" of football during the World Cup, which, among other things, deals with these goal jingles.

He thinks that the music signals that football cannot stand on its own.

- It is an obvious shift that they want to make WC matches more of a show, and that sports are not enough.

It will also be the case that you somehow erase the supportership and the crazy joy that I think many people want in a football context, he tells Kulturnyheterna.
