The rape trial against the American actor and Scientologist Danny Masterson has ended without a verdict for the time being.

Presiding Judge Charlaine Olmedo on Wednesday declared a mistrial after the jury failed to reach a decision during six days of deliberations.

Whether Masterson, who shot the sitcom "That 70's Show" with Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher between 1998 and 2006, is expecting a second trial in court in Los Angeles, should be clarified at the end of March.

The 46-year-old actor was arrested two and a half years ago.

The Los Angeles Police Department had been investigating nearly three years after criminal complaints were filed by women alleging that he drugged and sexually assaulted him during meetings at Masterson's home.

As the defense accused the witnesses during the five-week trial, they are said to have fabricated the allegations.

In addition, the alleged victims had agreed and repeatedly changed the descriptions of the alleged rapes.

During the hearing, the witnesses, like Masterson's Scientologists at the time of the alleged assaults about 20 years ago, also made allegations against the controversial faith community.

The organization, which was founded almost 70 years ago, repeatedly threatened and silenced her.
