The "Implementation Plan" proposes that by 2025, Guangdong will form a museum industry development pattern with reasonable layout, optimized structure, distinctive features, perfect system, and complete functions. The number of museums in the province will reach 400; by 2035, the social functions of museums will be more complete. The strength of museums has been significantly enhanced, and a strong museum province with international influence has been built.

  The "Implementation Plan" was reviewed and approved by the Guangdong Provincial Cultural System Reform Special Group, and was approved by the Propaganda Department of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Civil Affairs, and the Guangdong Provincial Department of Finance. , Guangdong Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism jointly issued.

Coordinate the development of museums in different regions, and support Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Meizhou, Dongguan, Chaozhou and other places in building "museum cities".

Integrate the development of museums at different levels, implement the reform and development plan of Guangdong museums, fully promote the creation of a world-class museum with Chinese characteristics, and strive to include a group of excellent museums in the national excellent museum development plan, help a group of small and medium museums to improve significantly, and help a group of museums develop .

  The quantity and quality of Guangdong museums are at the forefront of the country. As of December 2021, there are 370 registered museums; the total number of museum collections is 2.5198 million pieces/sets, ranking fourth in the country.
