Broccoli will be shipped from Futaba-cho, Fukushima Prefecture, where Tokyo Electric Power Company's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station is located, after being inspected for radioactive substances by the nearby prefecture.

This is the first time agricultural products have been shipped from Futaba after the nuclear accident.

Futaba Town, where the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant is located, was ordered to evacuate the entire area due to the nuclear accident, and all residents were forced to evacuate, causing the shipment of agricultural products to stop.

Mr. Kohataji, a farmer, is cultivating broccoli in a field in an area where decontamination was carried out in advance, and evacuation orders were lifted in August this year. For agricultural products produced, it will be shipped for the first time.

The broccoli produced in this area was not tested for radioactive substances exceeding the national standard, so shipping restrictions have been lifted. , It means that it will be shipped to the local agricultural cooperative.

Mr. Kohata planted broccoli, which is easy to grow even in poor soil, because the soil near the surface, which has a lot of nutrients, was removed during the decontamination work. It means that I have been brought up by going through it.

Mr. Kohata said, ``The land was damaged by decontamination, so we made it through trial and error. I want to start producing," he said.
