The Valencian Community Medical Union (CESM-CV) has announced the call for a strike for January

17 and 18, 2023, to demand "quality public health" and the "recognition of doctors"

.

This announcement comes after the meeting held yesterday by representatives of CESM-CV with the Minister of Health,

Miguel Mínguez

, where they explained to the Administration the "unsustainable situation" that the medical community is suffering "at all levels of care" and the lack of response by the Generalitat Valenciana "to the demands that we have been raising for years".

Among these demands, the professional union recalls the lack of medical professionals, the collapse of health centers and hospitals, "unaffordable" waiting lists, the total absence of protection in attacks on health personnel, "deplorable, with endless days", services without doctors, (SAMU) and "third world or garbage contracts" remuneration, among others.

The latest claim was as a result of the announcement of the

distribution of the new expansion of personnel announced by Health, where only 102 of the 769 places (13%) corresponded to doctors

, "despite the growing and unacceptable waiting lists both in primary as in hospitals", according to CESM-CV denounced.

After legal notice, "with sufficient time in advance", the union requests that

a table and a negotiation schedule be urgently established with the strike committee

appointed by CESM-CV, "to avoid conflict on the one hand" and , on the other, that it enables "citizens not to be harmed on dates as sensitive as Christmas and New Year's festivities."

Despite the announcement by the autonomous medical union, Mínguez is confident that the stoppages will not take place, because, as he has stated, the Valencian Community is "considerably better" in terms of human resources and infrastructure than other autonomies," reports

Europa Press

.

The counselor has also indicated that it is

"a notice of strike conditional on the continued dialogue with Health"

and has stressed that the medical union is "aware that the ministry has it open permanently."

In addition, he recalled that he met in the last 48 hours with the six unions that make up the Health Board and that "the only one that has raised that strike notice conditional on a dialogue" has been CESM.

The announcement coincides with the

concentration before the Ministry of Health organized today by another union, in this case CSIF

, which demands "better health" and denounces "the precariousness of public services and personnel."

Also today, the Personnel Board of the Clinical-Malvarrosa Health Department had called a concentration to show rejection of the "extreme complexity" of the opposition tests (Nursing, Social Work, Physiotherapist, Emergency Physician or Occupational Therapist, among other categories) of Health, among other recent protests.
