The manager of a Chinese food store in Tokyo was sent documents to the public prosecutor's office for displaying "Shanghai crab", whose trading in a live state is regulated by law, at the store without permission.

The documents were sent to a 52-year-old manager and a 37-year-old employee of a Chinese food store in Nishiikebukuro, Toshima-ku, Tokyo.



According to the Metropolitan Police Department, it is suspected that 194 Chinese mitten crabs, so-called "Shanghai crabs", whose trade in a live state is regulated by law, were displayed in a showcase in November and stored without permission for sale. increase.

Shanghai crabs are designated as a "specified alien species" that may affect the ecosystem, and unless permission is obtained from the Ministry of the Environment or imported by restaurants, transactions in a live state are prohibited. Not allowed.



In response to the investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department, all of them admitted to the charges and stated that they were selling Shanghai crabs because customers came looking for them.



According to the investigation so far, the store managers have been selling without permission for about five years, and it is believed that they sold about 13 million yen from last year to this year.
