But penguins not far from the shores of the Mediterranean, it happens.

And it is even more and more frequent, for a few weeks, relates the Ornithological Group of Roussillon (Gor).

"These individuals wintering in the sun are primarily from Celtic Sea settlements and north-west Britain," the association says.

In November, 20% of Tordas penguin sightings in France were made in the Mediterranean.

“Usually, it concentrates only 2% of the observations.

“This would seem to indicate that these birds were pushed by the strong westerly winds in the Atlantic in recent days, and would therefore have passed through Gibraltar in much greater numbers than usual, continues the Gor.

Many of the individuals observed appear to be very weakened and two corpses have been discovered.

This was probably caused by the storm in the Atlantic, which prevented the penguins from feeding properly.
