It's already Christmas in Madrid.

The classic switching on of the lights is the

starting signal for the festivities,

which reappear in all their splendor after the pandemic.

It's time to get the most out of the city, whether you are a resident or a visitor.

For this, here are these plans.

LIGHTS IN 230 SITES

Designers such as Devota & Lomba, Duyos,

Moisés Nieto or Ana Locking

sign the decoration of the Christmas lights, joined by the restaurateur

Samantha Vallejo-Nágera

with the lighting of Jorge Juan street.

In total, up to 230 locations will be decorated until next January 6 with 6,700 chains, 115 cherry trees and 13 gigantic luminous fir trees.

Among the latter, the natural one of

Plaza de España

of 19 meters stands out.

In addition, this year both the large ball located at the confluence of Calle Alcalá with

Gran Vía

and the aluminum menina 10 meters high, 7.5 meters wide and with more than 37,000 led lamps on its back will be maintained.

The

Naviluz bus,

which runs through the most emblematic streets of the city, is also running until the Three Kings parade arrives.

As for the novelties, there is a 3D nativity scene 10 meters high and 20,000 led bulbs in the

Plaza de Colón

with the silhouettes of Saint Joseph, the Virgin Mary and the Child Jesus.

WAH!, A 'SHOW' IN THREE ACTS

We headed to the

Madrid Fair,

since there, from December 1 to 11, the show Wah!

Madrid, which combines

music and gastronomy

in three acts.

The first starts in the Food Hall (food court), where a gourmet

performance

takes place through a walk through a

kitchen designed to be enjoyed with your hands,

whether they are typical dishes from an Asian market, with Latin American touches or even vegan.

The second act, in the theater, proposes a journey through

the history of music

full of audiovisual effects and performances.

The climax is reached with the Wah! Aftershow, aimed at those who want to continue squeezing the night with more live performances, DJ sessions and signature cocktails.

THE BEST SUSTAINABLE RESTAURANT

It is the best sustainable restaurant in the world.

Not only that: it is also ranked 43rd out of

the 50 best on the planet

, according to The World's 50 Best Restaurant list.

With this letter of introduction,

Boragó is

sold

, the coveted venue in Santiago de Chile led by chef Rodolfo Guzmán.

But you don't have to cross the Atlantic to try its delicatessen.

Until December 3, all the culinary wisdom that the chef pours into Boragó (the official name for borage) can be enjoyed at the

NH Collection Eurobuilding

hotel thanks to its

pop up

#BoragoinResidence.

Or the annual event that, since 2016, brings renowned national and international chefs to offer a unique experience in a temporary format.

Guzmán is the protagonist of this edition, in which he did not want to "replicate the Boragó of Chile", but to make "

an installation in Madrid different from our original house,

for which we have combined the native Chilean spring with the Spanish autumn in a menu only", he qualifies from the hotel's VIP breakfast room, which has become his home these days.

The result is a culinary tribute of

18 sustainable steps

such as the squid and cuttlefish sea sun, the grilled carabinero, the Madrid offerings of roasted apple and Chilean sturgeon caviar, the raw deer aged in beeswax or the lamb in reverse cooked for a year around a fig tree .

ROSCONES WORKSHOP

There is no January 6th without a roscón, so whoever wants to make one with their own hands can sign up for the workshops organized by the managers of the "honestly artisan" workshop Pan.Delirio, a father and a son with the same name,

Javier Cocheteux

, who decided to turn their passion into a profession by opening this

family business

that offers products made with "real" sourdough, including, in addition to breads, croissants, muffins, palm trees and roscones.

Not surprisingly, with the latter they won the prize for the best in the Community of Madrid.

To make them, in your

Materia training school

(Naranjo, 7) they organize courses to learn how to knead by hand, understand the need for long fermentation and baking.

Next workshops: December 1 and 14 (120 euros).

The list of top exhibitions in the capital is in full swing.

homonymous exhibition on the person and work of the creator of the Sagrada Familia in the

There is room for more than 150 Catalan references between plans, drawings, models, furniture, architectural elements, vintage photos... Those who prefer to know the relationship between the author of Guernica and the French designer

Coco Chanel

can come until January 15 to the Thyssen-Bornemisza museum, where art and fashion merge in

Picasso/Chanel

through four chronological sections.
