Dua Lipa now also has an Albanian passport.

The singer, who was born to Albanian immigrants in the UK, took the oath at Tirana City Hall on Sunday after the Balkan country's President Bajram Begaj offered her citizenship.

Dual citizenship in the future

"In the future I will also be an Albanian on paper," she wrote on Instagram next to a picture that showed her beaming with the certificate.

Lipa was born in London at the end of August 1995.

Her parents Anesa and Dukagjin Lipa had come to the UK a few years earlier from Pristina, now the capital of the Republic of Kosovo.

After the singer's 13th birthday, the family temporarily moved back to Pristina, where Lipa also attended school and learned Albanian.

She released her first album in 2017 and won her first Grammy two years later.

With titles such as "Don't Start Now", "Levitating" and "Sweetest Pie", Lipa is now one of the most important young personalities in the entertainment industry, business and politics according to Time magazine.
