Estonian Parliament President Jüri Ratas took second place in a TV dance show.

The second tallest man in the Baltic EU and NATO state and his professional dance partner only had to give way to the winning couple in the Estonian version of "Dancing with the Stars" on Sunday evening.

Third place in the multi-week dance competition on television, which has been one of the programs with the highest ratings in Estonia in recent weeks, was the former Estonian Bundesliga soccer professional Ragnar Klavan (FC Augsburg).

Ratas had previously posted regular social media clips on his social media account sharing the progress he and his dance partner had made.

"We will definitely miss the routine," the former Estonian prime minister told the tabloid "Kroonika" on Monday.

"It was great - the rehearsals, the nice people and the slight nervous tension.

It will definitely be a few more days before you can get back to your normal lifestyle from this point.”

Whether Ratas succeeds in converting his highly acclaimed appearance on the screen dance floor into political capital remains to be seen in the spring.

Estonia will elect a new parliament in March 2023.
