The Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi has closed the curtain on the activities of the 14th edition, the largest in the history of the Abu Dhabi Art Fair, which set a new record for the number of visitors and attendance.

The exhibition witnessed the largest and most diverse participation in its history, with the presence of 80 galleries from 28 countries, which presented more than 900 works by 300 artists from all over the world, including 33 new galleries from the UAE, Cuba, Colombia, France, Tunisia, Italy, Nigeria, South Korea and Morocco. Turkey, and other countries.

The exhibition received its visitors free of charge during this year's edition, thanks to the support of the official co-sponsor of the event, the leading Swiss watch brand, Charles Zuber.

Saud Abdulaziz Al Hosani, Undersecretary of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, said: "Abu Dhabi art embodies a basic and vital pillar in the emirate's cultural scene, due to its contribution through its program to strengthening Abu Dhabi's position in the global art arena." The show and artists from around the world reflect the Emirati capital's embrace of contemporary art and its creative program.

He added, "Such initiatives are an integral part of our vision to provide events and experiences that motivate and inspire everyone, consolidating Abu Dhabi's position as an exceptional cultural, tourism, entertainment and artistic destination."

Among the most prominent events and artworks that will continue after the conclusion of the “Abu Dhabi Art” activities until January 22, 2023 is the “My Life in Metaverse” exhibition, which is organized within the “Gateway” program under the supervision of the curator, Dr. Omar Khalif, and continues at Manarat Al Saadiyat.

It features works by international artists, including Sofia El Maria, Cory Arcangel, Cream Projects, Simon Denny, Celia Hempton, Paul Heyer, Harun Mirza, Farhad Moshiri, Trevor Paglin, Nam June Paik, Heather Phillipson, and Andy Warhol.

As for the “Horizons .. Emerging Artists” program, it presents commissioned works designed by three emerging artists residing in the UAE, namely Majd Alloush, Sarah Al Muhairi and Muhammad Khaled, in Manarat Al Saadiyat.

While the "Assignment of Artists in Cultural Sites" program presents installation works in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi.

The works of creators Abdullah Al Saadi, Shilpa Gupta and Conrad Shawcross will remain in Al Ain in Al Jahili Castle and Al Ain Oasis, while Marinella Sanatore's light work will be displayed until January 22.

The exhibition “Farida Lashay: Floating on the Waves” sheds light on some of the works of the late artist Farida Lashay (1944-2014), through a group of six photographic installations under the auspices of curator Sam Samee, inside the photography studio in Manarat Al Saadiyat.

Another ongoing event within the Abu Dhabi Art program is the “Oasis Fan” workshop in Al Ain Oasis, which is inspired by the commissioned work of artist Conrad Shawcross (December 17-18).
