On the morning of the 27th, a fire broke out near the east exit of JR Omiya Station in Saitama City and spread to several nearby buildings, including a drugstore.

Police say no injuries have been confirmed.

Around 6:30 am on the 27th, near the east exit of JR Omiya Station in Omiya Ward, Saitama City, a passerby reported to the fire department that ``the cardboard piled up in the outdoor unit between the buildings was burning''.



The fire spread to several nearby buildings such as a drug store, and as a result of about 20 fire trucks and other fire engines working to extinguish the fire, it was almost extinguished after 11:30 am.



Police say no injuries have been confirmed at this time.



A video taken by an NHK staff member who lives nearby at around 6:45 this morning showed gray smoke rising from between the buildings.



The staff who took the picture said, ``It smelled a little burnt.
