The diesel train "Kiha 28", which was active in the former national railway era and was the only diesel train operated by Isumi Railway in Chiba Prefecture in Japan, performed its last regular service on the 27th.

This "Kiha 28" is a diesel car manufactured in 1964, and has been popular as a sightseeing train on the Isumi Railway since 2012.

About 1,800 cars of the same type were manufactured during the old Japanese National Railways era, but only this one is currently in service.

The 27th became the last run of regular service because it was aging and it cost a lot of money to replace parts.

While many people, including railway fans, set up cameras on the platform of Otaki Station, "Kiha 28" began to move slowly.

At the home, I saw people waving their hands and reluctantly saying goodbye.

A man in his 80s who visited with his grandson said, "I'm sad that another old-fashioned diesel vehicle is gone."

"Kiha 28", which has finished regular service, will be operated as a chartered train for a while.

Koichi Furutake, president of Isumi Railway, said, ``The end of regular service was a difficult decision to protect this local railway. In the future, we would like to raise funds through crowdfunding so that we can display the trains.'' .
