The flu takes hold in France as the Covid-19 epidemic picks up again and hospitals are already overwhelmed with cases of bronchiolitis.

Few people have been vaccinated against the flu so far, even fewer than in previous years.

Brittany, which has been in the pre-epidemic phase for two weeks, has been joined by other regions.

The Covid-19 epidemic resumes, bronchiolitis continues, and the flu begins to settle throughout the territory.

Brittany, particularly affected, in the pre-epidemic phase for two weeks, was joined by several other regions.

Centre-Val de Loire, Hauts-de-France, Île-de-France and Normandy are now in the pre-epidemic phase.

Overseas, the flu epidemic is already raging in Martinique, Mayotte and Reunion.

1,127 visits to the emergency room for flu syndrome

In mainland France, the number of cases remains low for the moment: 1,127 visits to the emergency room for flu syndrome last week.

This represents a 39% increase in seven days.

Hospitalizations also jumped by 57%: 19 patients were admitted to intensive care.

This pre-epidemic starts when the more than 16 million eligible people have not scrambled to get vaccinated alert Phillipe Besset, president of the federation of pharmaceutical unions in France.

"Last year, on the 38th day of the campaign, we were at 7,300,000 doses delivered. This year, we are at 6,300,000 doses, or 1 million less."
