From March 1, 2021, the "Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of the Yangtze River" will be officially implemented, becoming China's first special law on the protection of river basins, marking that the great protection of the Yangtze River has entered a new stage of legal protection.

The Yangtze River flows through 11 provinces and meanders on the land of China. This river with a length of more than 6,300 kilometers is the longest river in China and the mother river that breeds all living things in the land of China.

Once upon a time, the Yangtze River was seriously polluted and the ecological functions of the watershed were degraded. Nearly 30% of important lakes and reservoirs were in a state of eutrophication. The biological integrity index of the Yangtze River even reached the worst level of "no fish".

In order to restore the vitality of the mother river, China has explored and formed a comprehensive Yangtze River protection mechanism in the past ten years, and introduced a series of policies such as the "Action Plan for the Protection and Restoration of the Yangtze River" (other policies can be made into pictures and put in videos), and Systematic thinking promotes the ecological protection of the Yangtze River, fisheries control, pollution control, and bank control, and joint management. The upstream, midstream, and downstream are organically coordinated to comprehensively improve the ecological environment of the Yangtze River and the ecological functions of the waters.

The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed to "implement the ten-year fishing ban on the Yangtze River", which once again pointed out the direction for restoring the ecological environment of the Yangtze River and showed the determination and will to protect the mother river.

In recent years, the water quality and ecological environment of the Yangtze River Basin have improved significantly. Over 97% of the high-quality water sections have basically achieved good water quality in the entire basin. Rare aquatic creatures such as finless porpoise, mullet, Yangtze sturgeon, and peach blossom jellyfish have frequently appeared.

Now the river is up and down, the water is clear and the banks are green, and the mother river of the Yangtze River is constantly glowing with new vigor and vitality.
