On the afternoon of the 25th, there was a problem with the control system at Amami Airport in Amami Oshima, Kagoshima Prefecture, and some flights, such as those connecting Kagoshima and Amami, were canceled.

According to Kagoshima Prefecture, a problem with the control system at Amami Airport occurred around 1:30 pm on the 25th, and the pilot and the air traffic control flight information officer, who monitors the flight of the aircraft, could not communicate wirelessly.

Due to this trouble, it was temporarily impossible to take off at Amami Airport, and some of the arriving flights were also changed to another airport.

From around 3:00 p.m., we were able to communicate using another radio, and operations resumed in sequence. Three flights were canceled, including one that was scheduled to arrive from the airport.

Due to this trouble, the airport was crowded with many people waiting for departure, and there was a long line of people waiting to change flights at the airline counters.

A male user said, "I was planning to transfer at Haneda Airport and return to my home in Shimane Prefecture, but it was quite late, so I had to change my schedule."

Also, a woman who was planning to go to Kagoshima Airport said, "I learned about the trouble when I arrived at the airport. I'm very worried if I can go home."

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will investigate the detailed cause of the trouble in the future.
