At the Keiyo Rinkai Industrial Complex in Chiba Prefecture, which is lined with steelworks that emit a large amount of carbon dioxide, a new council was established with the aim of achieving carbon neutrality. I was.

The Keiyo Rinkai Industrial Complex, located on the coast of Tokyo Bay, is Japan's largest industrial complex with steelworks and oil refineries, and Chiba Prefecture's industrial sector emits the highest amount of carbon dioxide in the country.

The first meeting of the council held in Chiba City on the 24th was attended by 11 companies and local governments, including major steel manufacturers, oil wholesalers, and energy-related companies.

In this, Governor Kumagai said, ``The fact that the amount of carbon dioxide emissions is high is also a sign of Japan's contribution. It has a lot to do with implementation,” he said.

Then, Professor Yoshiko Tsuji of the University of Tokyo's Environmental Safety Research Center gave a lecture. He pointed out the importance of circulating energy and materials in the region, such as using things as resources again.

In the future, the council will establish subcommittees for each theme, such as energy and resource recycling, and will work together to advance technology development and efficient use of resources.
