Seniors, how are you?

Say hello to milk.

- Warm movement to prevent lonely death -

It is news that the 'milk delivery asking how the elderly are doing' campaign has been expanded to all areas of Seoul.

Today (24th), the corporation 'Milk Delivery Asking the Elderly's regards' signed a business agreement with the Seodaemun-gu Office for the 25th time and expanded its delivery area to all areas of Seoul.

The Best Milk Campaign is an activity to prevent lonely deaths of the elderly living alone.

Milk is delivered every day for the health of the elderly living alone, but if milk delivered the previous day remains at the front door, government offices or family members are contacted to prevent lonely deaths.

Since we started delivering milk to 100 Oksu-dong households in 2003, we are currently taking care of 3,600 elderly people living alone.

Meanwhile, with the increase in the number of elderly households living alone, the rate of lonely deaths is rising year by year, emerging as a social problem.

Usually, deaths without relatives are considered lonely deaths, but according to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the number of deaths without relatives increased from 1,025 in 2012 to 3,488 in 2021.

Lonely deaths usually occur in vulnerable single-person households living in social isolation, and as the number of super-aged elderly households is expected to increase rapidly from 2025, when we enter a super-aged society, the rate of lonely deaths is also expected to increase.

According to the National Statistical Office, the number of elderly households living alone is expected to record 37.4% in 2030, 39.1% in 2040, and 41.1% in 2050.

If this statistic becomes a reality, by 2050, 1 out of 5 households will be elderly households living alone.

In view of the accelerated aging of Korea, interest in elderly households living alone is now seen as a necessity rather than an option.
