This is the second release of the series of "Collections of Guangdong Provincial Museum" after "Miscellaneous Volume 1 Copper Enamelware and Exported Silverware" and "Ceramics Volume 1: Ceramics of Past Dynasties".

  At present, the Guangdong Provincial Museum has a total of about 6,000 pieces/sets of paintings, most of which are fine paintings of the past dynasties since the Song and Yuan Dynasties, especially the paintings of the Ming and Qing Dynasties and the paintings of the Lingnan area.

For example, among the paintings in the collection, the earliest unmarked "Picture of Peaks with Clear Snow" in the Northern Song Dynasty, and the scroll of the classic "Ink Dragon Picture" handed down by Chen Rong, a famous dragon painter in the Southern Song Dynasty, are all art treasures that have been handed down for nearly a thousand years and have survived to this day.

The collection of paintings by famous artists since the Ming and Qing Dynasties includes not only masterpieces by court painters of the Ming and Qing Dynasties and representative painters of various schools such as the Zhejiang School, Wumen School of Painting, Huating School, and Yangzhou School of Painting, but also the earliest surviving paintings in Guangdong. ——Yan Zong's "Hushan Pingyuan Picture" volume, as well as representative works of famous Cantonese masters such as Lin Liang, Ju Chao, Ju Lian, Gao Jianfu, and Chen Shuren.

  A total of 169 pieces/sets of collections were selected and introduced in this volume of paintings published this time. According to the history of dynasties and the development of paintings, all collections are sorted into four chapters: "Song and Yuan", "Ming Dynasty", "Qing Dynasty" and "Twentieth Century".

Based on the date of birth of the author and the year of creation of the works, combined with factors such as genre and region, it reflects the typical style and appearance of each artist.

  According to reports, most of the works included in this volume are precious cultural relics, and more than half of them are first-class cultural relics.
