The destruction site of the Insee tower in Malakoff (Hauts-de-Seine) is a source of discord.

As reported by

Le Parisien

this Saturday, the mayor (PCF), Jacqueline Belhomme, who opposes the project of an office building intended for the agents of the ministries of Health and Labor, wrote an open letter to the ministry of Solidarity to ask for the abandonment of the construction site.

"The state crushes our PLU, despises our travel plan, refuses a visual breakthrough", she notably protested.

He began to probe the Insee tower with the aim of removing asbestos.

Demolition is expected to take place within "about six months" and the offices are expected to be occupied in 2027.

A visual breakthrough

However, the municipality was initially in favor of the destruction in order to have a north-south visual breakthrough, but not for the construction of offices.

“We refuse […] to have a building imposed on us that turns its back on the city and encloses its inhabitants,” supported the city councilor.

She now plans to organize a demonstration with the inhabitants.

The Ministry of Social Affairs believes that it has already made concessions and that such a visual breakthrough is well planned but without going through the ministry's site.
