An eco-responsible and economical initiative.

A concept called "bricothèque" was born a year and a half ago in Crest (Drôme).

This is an establishment that offers DIY tools for hire, like books in the library, rather than buying new products, reports France 3 Auvergne Rhône Alpes this Sunday.

8 euros per year

The association rents various items provided free of charge by individuals including “circular saws, sanders, drills, rotofilers, brushcutters, hedge trimmers, a compressor to clean the tools”, explained its manager.

To benefit from it, all you have to do is pay a contribution of 8 euros per year and pay a low daily rate.

In addition to the rental, it is also possible to buy certain tools to participate in the financing of the structure.

The association, which currently has four employees and nearly 1,000 members, now hopes to continue its activity thanks to its own funds, without going through aid.

This could be possible as early as the end of 2023.
