I have something to do today, and I didn't have time, so I went here to pack a few dishes.

  [Concurrent] Residents

I don't usually eat at home, but the food here is really good and cheap, and the price/performance ratio is relatively high.

[Explanation] Recently, the reporter visited a community canteen located in Jinsong Community, Chaoyang District, Beijing. According to the person in charge, unlike social catering, community canteens have low profits and serve community residents as the main goal.

[Same period] Zhang Pinyi, director of Meilin Community Canteen

From the very beginning of our business until now, we have not put profit as our top priority, because the profit is too thin, 16 yuan for one meat and one vegetable, and 18 (yuan) for one meat and two vegetables, and then let everyone eat whatever they want Yes, and then there is soup and main course.

[Concurrent] Sun Hongwei, Chef of Meilin Community Canteen

The original intention of our community canteen is mainly aimed at these elderly people in the community, in line with their healthy taste, less salt, less oil, less sugar, but we have young people and middle-aged people here, and their tastes have to be regulated, such as If we serve ten dishes, there are probably seven dishes that the elderly can eat, and the remaining three dishes are (for) young and middle-aged people to control their tastes.

[Explanation] A few days ago, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the Ministry of Civil Affairs jointly issued the "Notice on Carrying out the Pilot Work of Complete Community Construction" to make up for the shortcomings of community service facilities and improve the living environment. The construction of "community canteens" in the notice has attracted much attention.

Reporters interviewed and found that many residents expect their communities to have community canteens.

I think it is necessary and better.

Because usually many young people order takeaway, and food safety and hygiene cannot be guaranteed.

Besides, he is busy with a lot of work, and he may be tired after get off work, so he will not go home to cook.

So it is more convenient to have a canteen.

I don't think the dishes need to be extravagant, they are just ordinary everyday meals.

Twenty or thirty per capita should be acceptable.

  [Concurrent] People in Beijing

  I support it.

Because first of all, like us young people, sometimes it may be too late to cook for the children in the morning, and then we can provide breakfast for the children and parents.

First of all, it must be clean and hygienic, and second, it can meet the needs of daily people's catering.

[Explanation] Some citizens also told reporters that although community canteens are good, the quality of the dishes must be guaranteed while the prices are affordable.

  [Concurrent] People in Beijing

It used to be a (community canteen), and there were two, one here, and one in the community over there. Both of them are closed now, and many people say they are not delicious.

If it is not better to open it again, then you have to get higher quality.

It doesn't need to be too oily or too salty, because the elderly can't eat too salty.

[Explanation] How do community canteen operators find a balance between striving for profit and public welfare?

Experts said that the sustainable and healthy development of community canteens requires the joint efforts of multiple parties.

[Concurrent] Lou Wei, director of the Research Office of Resources and Environmental Economy, Institute of Ecological Civilization, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences

First of all, community canteens must be market-oriented, because as an enterprise, it must be pursuing profit, but this kind of catering hall with certain public welfare requires enterprises to undertake certain social responsibilities.

So in this regard, there is a question of how to balance social responsibility and interests.

The first point is to strengthen food safety supervision; the second point is to introduce a competitive mechanism.

If there are two community canteens in a community, and we subsidize or not subsidize your canteen, I will directly subsidize and issue vouchers to the elderly themselves, and give them the right to choose catering. Only by introducing this fair, open, A transparent competition mechanism is conducive to further improving service quality.

The third is policy support, such as preferential policies, such as tax incentives or rent discounts.

We don't necessarily have to build community canteens in every community, but once they are built, we need everyone's joint efforts to operate sustainably.
