Mel Gibson will not be present at the Harvey Weinstein trial in Los Angeles.

The actor of

Mad Max

was to testify in favor of an alleged victim of the producer, identified in the procedure under the name of Jane Doe #3 to preserve his anonymity, and friend of the comedian.

It would seem that the prosecution decided not to appeal to him.

Deadline, which contacted the prosecutor's office to find out the reason for this last-minute change, received no response.

As the publication explains, during an interview with investigators, the star said he sensed a problem when he mentioned Weinstein's name to his friend, Jane Doe #3.

This reaction, which he then described as a kind of post-traumatic stress, had convinced him that she had perhaps been the victim of the actions of the boss of Miramax.

Trial soon over

A few years later, Jane Doe #3 finally confessed to Mel Gibson that she had indeed been sexually assaulted by Harvey Weinstein.

“He was the first person I finally told about what happened.

I told him that Weinstein had sexually assaulted me, but I didn't want to go into all the details.

I was embarrassed and humiliated,” she told the court earlier this month.

Also according to Deadline, the disappearance of Mel Gibson from the list of witnesses is a rather good sign for the prosecution.

This may indeed mean that she believes she has enough elements to complete her argument, especially after the testimony of Jennifer Siebel Newsom.

The actress and wife of the Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, gave a particularly intense testimony by recounting the crimes of which she claims to have been a victim.

While he appealed his first conviction in New York, Harvey Weinstein now faces 60 years in prison in this new trial being held in Los Angeles.
