More than 490,000 foreign tourists visited Japan last month, more than double the number from the previous month.

The increase was due to the significant relaxation of border measures for the new coronavirus.

According to the Japan National Tourism Organization, an estimated 498,600 foreign tourists visited Japan last month, including tourists.



On the 11th of last month, the government significantly eased border measures, such as exempting visas for short-term stays and lifting the ban on individual travel for foreigners, resulting in a 2.4-fold increase compared to September, the previous month.

On the 15th, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism announced that it would resume accepting international cruise ships, which had been suspended for two years.
