• Health Medical unions from Andalusia, Catalonia and Euskadi in talks for a possible common front with Madrid

  • Claims Primary Care doctors in Madrid will go on indefinite strike from November 21

  • Other Autonomous Communities The doctors of Cantabria begin a strike for non-compliance with the 2019 agreements and Navarra gives three months' notice

The talks between the State Confederation of Medical Unions (CESM), Doctors of Catalonia (Metges de Catalunya, MC), the Andalusian Medical Union and the Euskadi Medical Union, which this medium advanced, already have a first result: the four union organizations they will meet and hold a joint press conference at the confederation's headquarters in Madrid next Wednesday, November 16, to "

show unity when demanding solutions

that improve the working and professional conditions of doctors".

In the call made by CESM, chaired by Tomás Toranzo, the four organizations report that "the

complicated situation that the profession is going through

, which has been dragging problems for years and has been aggravated by the pandemic, has made it necessary to union of all the regional professional unions to demand a series of key improvements for doctors, which

focus on demanding a specific statute that includes the differences of these professionals in the regulations

, as a result of the meetings that are being carried out to modify the Framework Statute. This same specificity makes necessary a different category from the A1 in which these health professionals are currently framed".

And they add: "To these demands must be added

a problem at the national level of poor management of human resources

that affects the availability of doctors in the National Health System (SNS) and a requirement to improve the Specialized Health Training system for really adapt the offer to the needs of the system and improve the working conditions of medical residents".

The call does not mention the conflict between primary care doctors in Madrid

and the Government of the autonomous community, due to the situation of out-of-hospital emergencies and the chaos in the opening of the continuing care points (PAC), but CESM and the Catalan, Andalusian and Basque unions are following it in detail.

The convener of the indefinite strike of the Family doctors and primary care pediatricians of the Community of Madrid from next November 21, the Association of Doctors and Higher Graduates of Madrid

(Amyts), is, in fact, part of CESM

.

There is no contagion effect, but there is a demand for improvements in their employment situation

However, Rafael Carrasco, president of

the Andalusian Medical Union

, in statements to this newspaper, has emphasized the Madrid meeting in the modification of the Framework Statute, and has completely separated it from the conflict of the doctors of the Community of Madrid.

In this regard he has said: "

We do not position ourselves for or against

. This is an issue that has not been discussed. Amyts has a conflict, we respect it, but we have not been on that issue at any time."

Carrasco recalls that

in Andalusia they have recently mobilized for the professional career

and assures that they will continue with the union fight as always, regardless of what happens in other autonomous communities.

Other sources involved in the talks between the four organizations specify, for their part, that the Framework Statute is an issue that is on the agenda but that "

the fire in Madrid is the trigger

" for the union and the problems that are addressed together they are structural (of the entire SNS), so that at the Madrid meeting "everything will be discussed".

The Madrid conflict has already caused the Madrid College of Physicians (Icomem), the Madrid primary schools, AFEM, the Amyts union and the SAR and AP platforms, to stage yesterday, at the college headquarters, their union in rejecting the model of out-of-hospital emergencies in the community, and that they make public a

joint manifesto

in which they ask the Government of Madrid to "reverse this restructuring, until it is carried out in a consensual manner with the professionals";

and to the leaders of the regional government themselves, that "they retract the statements that generate a climate of animosity towards professionals."
