The senology center of the Orleans hospital (Loiret) has set up a device called “Emergency Breast”.
It is intended for women who need to undergo breast cancer screening without delay, explains France Bleu Orléans.
The system makes it possible to obtain an appointment for a mammogram within 48 hours where delays can reach several months.
Concretely, “Emergency Breast” is based on a telephone number, 02 38 74 42 04. This allows patients to be put directly in touch with the secretariat of the breast center.
An examination is then quickly proposed.
Women then have access to additional examinations, or even a biopsy, if necessary.
The main beneficiaries of the device are patients who have themselves observed the presence of an abnormal element in the breast or in whom a doctor has detected a potential anomaly.
Two to three women contact Urgence Sein every day.
