The last time this period was the most important, at Mont Aigoual, was in 2019. That year, it had not frozen between May 14 and November 5, i.e. 176 days.

According to Etienne Kapikian, forecaster at Météo-France, the semester between May and October 2022 was the hottest ever observed on this site, with an average temperature of 14.1°C, or 3.4°C above average. from 1991 to 2020. The previous record dated back to 2003 when it was 12.2°C.

May, June, July, August and October 2022 are also the hottest months ever observed since 1895, at Mont Aigoual.
