A second outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) was detected in Côtes-d'Armor on Monday.

The presence of the bird flu virus has indeed been confirmed in animals from a chicken farm located in Hillion (Côtes-d'Armor), announced the prefecture of the department the next day in a press release relayed by Le Penthièvre.

The heightened monitoring measures applied in all of the Côtes-d'Armor farms are at the origin of this discovery.

The prefecture recalled that the consumption of poultry and their eggs presents no danger to humans.

Faced with this new focus, two protection and surveillance perimeters have been set up around the farm concerned.

The first, with a radius of 3 km, targets the municipalities of Hillion and Langueux (Côtes-d'Armor).

The second, of 10 km, includes these municipalities as well as 13 others, on all or part of their territory.

Movement of poultry and eggs is prohibited.

Local authorities have called on the public to promptly report any wild animals found dead as well as any unusual animal illnesses or deaths.
