Prince Harry's 'Backup' memoir sees the light of day in January

Penguin Random Publishing said on Thursday it will publish Prince Harry's memoir "Spear" "The Reserve" on January 10, which will tell "with unwavering sincerity" his journey from "trauma to recovery".

The book, which was due to be published later this year, will be "full of insight, radiance, self-introspection and hard-earned wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief," the publishing house said.

The title refers to Prince Harry's position as the younger brother of Prince William, who has become heir to the British throne since their father Charles became king last month after the death of Queen Elizabeth.

Before William and his wife Kate had their three children, Harry was next to his brother in line to the throne, hence the phrase "reserve for heir".

The cover will be a picture of Harry looking directly into the camera, along with his name and the title of the diary.

Harry and his wife Meghan, officially known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, gave up their royal duties in early 2020 and moved to the United States.

The couple shocked the British monarchy in a 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey when Meghan accused an unnamed member of the royal family of raising concerns about their son's possible darkening and said her life as a member of the royal family put her on the brink of suicide.
