In Sakaiminato City, Tottori Prefecture, which has the largest catch of red snow crab in Japan, children at a nursery school learned how to eat delicious crabs.

This initiative is held every year at daycare centers and kindergartens in the city by the "Sakaiminato Red Snow Crab Volunteer Association", which is made up of fishermen and restaurants in Sakaiminato City, in order to deepen children's understanding of red snow crab.

On the 27th, the members wore crab headgear and visited Nakahama Nursery School.

After first showing freshly landed crabs to 23 kindergarten children, they demonstrated how to cook them by boiling and steaming them in a pot.

Then, when the members taught the children how to break their legs and push themselves out of the shell, they skillfully pulled out their bodies and enjoyed the local specialties, saying things like "delicious!"

Masakazu Hamano, chairman of the Sakaiminato Red Crab Volunteer Association, said, "I want people to learn about red snow crab, which is very juicy, sweet, and rich in crab miso, and come to love their hometown deeply."
