This Tuesday begins the flu vaccination campaign.

If the disease is limited to only a few sporadic cases in France for the moment, the case of Australia where the flu was violent, already worries the experts, who fear a difficult 2022-2023 season.

So, to avoid this tragedy, the authorities facilitate the process of getting vaccinated.

And a sting, one.

This Tuesday begins the flu vaccination campaign.

An important moment for the authorities, who hope to limit the spread of the virus this winter, when the epidemic resumption of Covid-19 is already on the minds.

For the occasion, patients will be able to receive the flu vaccine in one arm, and the covid vaccine in the other arm, on the same day.

This is what the high health authority recommends.

“There is no danger in benefiting from the two vaccines at the same time”, adds the infectiologist Didier Pittet, also favorable to this double vaccination.

Because the flu threatens.

In Australia, after two very calm years thanks to barrier gestures, the virus has been particularly aggressive.

The country of kangaroos recorded its worst year since 2017 and 2019, with more than 224,000 patients screened.

Priority people at risk

"The point of double vaccination is simply that it's much more convenient because it kills two birds with one stone. That said, if you prefer to get the flu shot first and fifteen days later against the Covid, that's fine too. It is above all the convenience of the approach which, in my opinion, is important", he explains at the microphone of Europe 1.

For one month, doses of the flu vaccine are exclusively reserved for people at risk: those over 65, pregnant women, obese people or people with chronic illnesses.

Apart from eligible people, from November 15, all French people will be able to be vaccinated but the injection will not be reimbursed.

It will then be necessary to count between 6 and 10 euros.
