A 54-year-old suspect was arrested by the Metropolitan Police Department on suspicion of abandoning the body of an elderly woman, believed to be her mother, in her apartment in Taito Ward, Tokyo.
Akinori Fukushima (54), an unemployed man from Taito-ku, Tokyo, was arrested on suspicion of abandoning the body of an elderly woman in his apartment.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, on the 14th of this month, it was discovered when a court enforcement officer visited the apartment for the procedure of forced eviction. He said there were no injuries.
The suspect has been living with her mother for about four years, and the Metropolitan Police Department is investigating her body as the mother who lived with her.
He admitted to the investigation and said, "There is no doubt that I left my mother's body unattended. I knew that the room had stopped making noise for several months, and I knew that she had died, but I was afraid to look directly at it, so I went to a manga cafe. I was moving from place to place,” he said.
The Metropolitan Police Department is proceeding to confirm the identity of the body and is investigating the details as her mother's pension was withdrawn.
