“Zorro has arrived”, well almost… Jean Dujardin has been announced in the main role of the new series devoted to the hero who signs his name at the tip of his sword.
The program will be produced in part by France Télévisions and is already in development, according to a press release from the public group relayed by AFP.
“France Télévisions is delighted to be associated with the development of the new international series
Zorro
”, can we read in the message announcing the program.
Zorro
will be developed by COLLECTIF64, the production company of Marc Dujardin, the actor's brother.
No release date has been announced.
Child's dream
Still according to the press release, the filming of this new
Zorro
series should start in 2023. But a first image of Jean Dujardin in the skin of Don Diego de la Vega with the shadow of the masked hero and his "Z" on a wall has been relayed.
This role is in any case one of the Oscar-winning actor's childhood dreams, as he revealed to
20 Minutes
in an interview in 2010. Jean Dujardin had also already played Zorro in a hilarious sequence from season 2 of
Platane
, the series by Eric Judor.
It now remains to be seen who will play Bernardo, Zorro's mute sidekick, or even his main antagonist, Sergeant Garcia.
