NASA = National Aeronautics and Space Administration announced last month that it succeeded in changing the asteroid's orbit as a result of conducting the first experiment to crash a probe into an asteroid far from the earth.

NASA wants to proceed with more detailed analysis and aim to develop technology to prevent collisions with the earth in the future when a celestial body that could cause great damage to the earth is found.

Last month, NASA conducted the first experiment to crash a probe weighing about 570 kg into the asteroid "Dimorphos" with a diameter of about 160 meters located about 11 million km from the earth.

After that, NASA and other research teams continued to analyze whether the impact of the collision changed the asteroid's orbit, and announced the results on the 11th.

The asteroid that hit the spacecraft originally orbited another larger asteroid with a period of 11 hours and 55 minutes, but after the collision, the period was shortened by 32 minutes. I see, it means that I succeeded in changing the trajectory.

NASA Secretary Nelson said at a press conference, ``I thought it would be a great success if we could change the cycle even by 10 minutes. This is a big turning point for mankind.''

So far, no asteroids have been found that could cause major damage to the Earth within the next 100 years, but the research team is conducting more detailed analysis, and if such an object is found in the future, it will prevent it from colliding with the Earth. I would like to aim for the development of technology to prevent
