The Emirate of Sharjah will live six days of cinematic creativity, accompanied by a selection of international pioneers at the “Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth 2022”, which launched its ninth session at the “Al Jawaher Center for Events and Conferences” with the premiere in the Middle East of the feature film “Children are fine”, Directed by Korean director Ji-won Lee.

The festival, which is held under the patronage of the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, President of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, will show 95 films, from 43 countries, in three fixed locations: the Al Jawaher Center for Events and Conferences, and Vox Cinemas “City Al Zahia Center in Sharjah and Mirdif City Center in Dubai. The festival organizes the “Green Carpet” event, which allows the audience to meet directors and film cadres for a number of films, and the Jewel Center hosts the screening of three films, which are shown for the first time in the Middle East. and the Emirates.

The festival, which will run until October 15, under the slogan “Think Cinema”, is organizing the “Green Carpet” event, which screens feature films, and allows the audience to meet the directors and film cadres that worked on their production, and talk to them about their experiences in the world of cinema in general, And their experience in those films shown in particular.

The festival receives its visitors from school students in the morning period from nine to two in the afternoon, and from the general public from four in the afternoon to nine in the evening, and includes eight dialogue sessions, presented by a group of artists, directors and specialists in the film industries, and 34 workshops, as it hosts a selection of members A jury of directors and film experts from 11 Arab and foreign countries, in addition to 25 promising children and young people.

The films participating in the festival compete in the festival awards categories, which are set up by a committee comprising a selection of directors and film experts from 11 countries, and for films, including 12 films in the “Children and Adolescent Films” category, 16 films in the “Student-Made Films” category, and eight films In the “Short Gulf Films” category, eight films in the “International Short Films” category, 28 films in the Animation Films category, 16 films in the “Feature Films” category, and seven “Documentaries” films.

The festival chose 25 promising children and young judges, who participated in a group of workshops “Qualifying Arbitrators”, organized by the “Fan” Foundation during the summer vacation, to enhance their critical skills and abilities in analyzing films and evaluating them artistically and technically in terms of form, content and messages they carry.
