The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has chosen the artist Samira Ahmed as the “Theatrical Personality of the Year” at the Dubai Festival for Youth Theater 2022, in honor of her artistic career full of achievements, and in appreciation of her contributions to the advancement of the Emirati theater, as the artist, who gave art a lot over the course of 45 years, will receive The award will be given during the closing ceremony of the festival, which will start on the 19th of this month and will continue until the 26th of the same month.

Dr. Saeed Mubarak bin Kharbash, Executive Director of the Arts and Letters Sector at Dubai Culture, said: "The authority affirms its firm commitment to local literary and cultural symbols, and introduces them to the community in appreciation of their pioneering efforts in promoting the theatrical, artistic and cultural scene in the Emirates," noting that honoring the artist Samira Ahmed to be the theatrical figure of the year in this session, in celebration of the various and distinguished contributions that she has achieved throughout her artistic and theatrical career, which is full of great stations and achievements.

He added: "The artist Samira Ahmed, since her first beginnings in the art world in the seventies of the last century, when she joined the Dubai Folk Theater, has not stopped presenting all her talents and skills, believing in the role of art in developing societies, and presenting sublime messages in various areas of life. .

Today, through this well-deserved honor, we seek to return something of the favor for her long journey.”

For her part, Fatima Al Jallaf, Acting Director of the Performing Arts Department at Dubai Culture, said: “We feel proud in front of this wonderful model of Emirati art, as Samira Ahmed was able to be an icon of creative and professional Emirati women in the field of art and theater, and revealed great potentials that she possesses. Women in the UAE, thanks to the continuous support and the incubating environment in which they can shed light on many societal issues;

The artist Samira Ahmed has achieved great success in the Gulf and Emirati arena in particular, and was able to win many relevant awards, and her artistic imprints will continue to inspire new generations of artists in various types of art, specifically theater arts.”

Samira Ahmed began her artistic life at a young age and joined the Dubai People's Theater in 1977, and achieved success after participating in the series "To You with Greetings", as well as after appearing in many television works.

Her roles varied between the affectionate and the evil mother, and her works were distributed to the Gulf countries, and she contributed to many dramatic and theatrical works, the most important of which are the series “Fayez Al-Tush” and “Hayer Tayer”, and in the plays she participated in more than 20 works, the most important of which are: ', and 'A Judge Model 80' and 'A Story That Scheherazade Didn't Tell'.
